As a continuation of our trip up into the Highlands, we visited the almighty Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.

Urquhart Castle is really gorgeous and was shrouded in cloud and mist when we went. It really is a great place to see Loch Ness and has some really interesting history surrounding it’s foundation and eventual destruction.

  1. I love your pics. They are really great! Kinda feels like a place that’s out of this world. I’m from a metro area in California and really enjoying seeing outdoor shots like you took. Great job!

  2. I love Scotland… and have visited many times… though mainly the Inner and Outer Hebrides… which are completely MAGICAL…. I think your photos are wonderful… makes me want to be there…. keep up the good work!

  3. Awesome photos! I’m from Polad and here every child knows the story about Loch Ness Monster πŸ™‚ We are reading about it legend in our primary english-learning book πŸ™‚ I wish to visit the place, it looks so mysterious and magically πŸ™‚

  4. Wonderful photos. I moved to Scotland for my university degree. It’s a beautiful country that I would recommend to anyone. Great work!

  5. Beautiful. Your shots make want to go to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales more so now than ever. I feel as though a part of me is there already.

  6. Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle makes me nostalgic – when I had visited, little did I know that the place casts a spell on you – it is beautiful and ever-inviting. I have many photographs of my visit there and some of them have been clicked at similar spots in the castle BUT your photographs are so stunning, puts mine to shame. Lovely, simply remarkable. Thank you for sharing, a well deserving freshly pressed πŸ™‚

  7. Hello, I had to check out your blog when I saw the title. Your photos are stunning! It brought back such wonderful memories of when we were there in 1991. Like you we were fortunate to visit on a day filled with eerily romantic mists. I would have been so dissapointed if the sun had been shining that day. Call me odd if you will but there is something magical about the mists upon Loch Ness. Thank you for sharing your photos and bringing back such beautiful memories!

  8. I always find landscapes so difficult to take, because it’s really hard to convey the mood and the expansiveness of it all, but you’ve really done an expert job of it. I went to Edinburgh, but never had the chance to make it to the Loch Ness area, so I’m really glad I could live vicariously through your awesome photographs! Great post! Thanks for sharing.

  9. Boss,
I have right click to save some of the image, I have long been searching for images that natively dark [the user who has captured/presented them dark by default]. I am kalaivaanan, a photographer, worked as an image analyst, also deviced a auto image processing technique. There are enough[90%] of images in the net which are very light natively. I halready have them to test in my program. I wanted some images that are dark. I would thank you if your would allow to use them to demo my technique.

as an analyst I would say your images are v good , the only issue is that they are little dark. but well it goes with the theme you wish to imply ie., lochness. my son is pretty interested to know about . I would be happy if you provide some news about it .
    thank you

  10. These photographs perfectly encapsulate the myth that surrounds Loch Ness. Fantastic photos of one of the great areas of natural beauty in Scotland! Captivating.

    Cheers!

  11. I have to agree with another reader’s comments that describes your pics as having a ‘haunting’ quality. I was just at Urquhart Castle last week and despite the nice, though overcast weather in the middle of August, it, too, had a haunting quality – the Trebuchet, the prison, the leftover pigeon tower, the crumbling walls and all that with a magnificent view over the Loch….this is my last day in Scotland and i am hoping to post a few pics on my blog when i get back….

  12. Nice eye(s). Your pictures really gave me a strong sense of place. I really enjoyed looking through these because they are so different from the standard fare.
